AUCKLAND FC FOOTBALL SCHOOL PHILOSOPHY AND SYLLABUS
Philosophy
FUN: More than anything we make football fun. Making exercises and sessions fun is proven to help children learn more and stay involved in the game for longer. We want everyone to fall in love with the game for life.
FOOTBALL AS LIFE SKILLS: Many of the lessons we learn while taking part in football can be transferred into our everyday lives. Goal-setting, controlling our emotions, work ethic, and resilience are just some of the transferrable skills, we want to help our young people become better people not just better footballers.
HEALTH AND WELLBEING: We promote a healthy and balanced way of life. Being active, having a healthy diet and understanding why this is important is a core part of our coaching philosophy.
INCLUSIVE: The Auckland FC Football School is designed for everyone. Our programmes are suitable for new players right through to players striving to play at the highest level. We actively promote a positive and inclusive environment for everyone.
Syllabus
TECHNICAL: Technical football skills are the foundation of being able to perform and enjoy the game. We prioritise ensuring our players are competent across all elements of technical skills.
TACTICAL: Understanding the way the game is played and how to be effective is an important part of junior and youth football development. It can also be an enjoyable learning experience.
PHYSICAL: The physical nature of the game becomes more and more important all the time. Our programme focuses on age-appropriate ways of athletic development, from developing motor skills and coordination as well as promoting healthy lifestyles in our community.
MINDSET: Football demands a lot of the mind, and these skills are one of the biggest learning benefits of playing football – these are skills that can be carried through into everyday life. Learning how to control emotions, resilience, work ethic and much more.
