Sunny afternoons at the football are about to get a whole lot better, with Auckland FC announcing the creation of a new tailgate area where fans can get together ahead of each home game. Located in the ‘supertop car park’ and close to Lilyworld.
The AFC tailgate will feature DJs, mini-football, picnic tables, garden games, fully stocked bars and barbeques for fans to use, it promises to bring a pre-game atmosphere to every match.
Best of all, it will be right beside where the players arrive, giving fans the perfect opportunity to high five the players as they enter the stadium.

The AFC Tailgate car park opens from 12pm before every home game and closes right at kick-off, giving you plenty of time to enjoy the pre-game atmosphere.

What is the AFC Tailgate?
The AFC Tailgate is a pre-match fan experience held close to Lilyworld Cafe in the Supertop Carpark. It’s a community-style BBQ, music, and fan zone designed to bring supporters together before kickoff. Fans must enter through Maurice Road.

How many people can I bring?
Your booking is for a car park, so bring as many friends as you can fit.
When does the Tailgate open and close?
The Tailgate opens at 12pm and closes at kick-off when the match begins.
Early entry and overnight tailgating are not permitted.
Is the event family-friendly?
Yes! The Tailgate is a family-friendly space with food, music, and activities for all ages. However, anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Can I bring my own food?
Yes, you may bring your own food to enjoy, but all cooking must be done on AFC-provided BBQs only.
Can I bring alcohol?
No. BYO alcohol is strictly prohibited.
Alcohol may only be purchased and consumed at Lilyworld Café and other licensed bars within the carpark.
Can I bring my own BBQ or cooking equipment?
No. For safety reasons, all BBQs will be supplied by AFC and operated by you under supervision.
Personal BBQs, charcoal grills, wood fires, or generators are not allowed.
Do we continue if it rains?
Yes! We will continue with the tailgate even if it rains. We will provide marquees as cover.
What items am I allowed to bring?
– Trestle Tables
– Pull up Tents
– Foldable chairs or picnic rugs
– Pre-prepared meals or ingredients to cook on the AFC-provided BBQs.
– Chilly bins / coolers
– Team gear & flags – banners, scarves, and supporter items (must not block views or cause hazards).

What items are not allowed?
For safety and compliance, the following are not permitted:
– Personal BBQs, charcoal or wood fires, or generators
– BYO alcohol
– Glass bottles or containers
– Weapons or illegal substances
– Any item deemed unsafe by AFC or Stadium Security
What facilities are available?
– Handwashing and sanitisation stations
– Waste and recycling bins
– Spill kits for BBQ areas (staff managed)
How do I dispose of waste?
Please use the provided bins for general waste and recycling. Vendors and staff will manage BBQ-related waste (oil, grease, water). Please do not tip liquids onto asphalt, drains, or grass.
