Auckland FC are delighted to announce the signing of Australian-born defender Aaron Calver ahead of the upcoming season.
The veteran defender has made 90+ A-League appearances and boasts two Premiership and one Championship wins with Sydney FC in 16/17 and 18/19. Calver made his debut for Sydney back in 2012 and went on to enjoy spells with Western United and Perth Glory.
Calver left the A-League for Korea in 2022, playing nearly 70 matches across the K-League 1 & 2, including winning the K-League 2 Championship with Gwangju FC in 2022. Most recently, the defender starred for NPL Victoria club Hume City FC.
“Coming back to the A-League, especially with such an ambitious group, right off the back of a title, is an opportunity that I just couldn’t say no to,” said Calver.
“I’m here, I’m ready and excited to help Auckland defend their title.”
Auckland FC’s Director of Football, Terry McFlynn, is delighted to add a veteran player to the backline for the upcoming season.
“Aaron is a top player with a lot of experience, and he will serve as a much-needed reinforcement for our backline this season.
“He’s a trophy winner, and when you can bring someone into your squad with trophy-winning experience, especially A-League ones, it makes the signing even better for us.”
