Head of Auckland FC’s development centre and reserve team assistant coach, Brian Shelley is set to leave Auckland FC.
After more than 10-years coaching in New Zealand, Shelley is set to depart the club at the end of November to pursue a new opportunity in his native Ireland.
“It’s been an incredible experience — I’ve learned a lot, worked with some great people, and grown both as a coach and as a person. I really appreciate all the support and belief Terry, Luke and everyone at the club has shown in me,” says Shelley.
Shelley, 43, enjoyed a successful playing career in England and Ireland before moving to Australia to continue his coaching journey.
He joined Auckland FC’s development centre in February this year, he was previously head of football at Saint Kentigern College.
“Although only with us for a short time, Brian’s dedication, expertise, and passion for the game have made a lasting impact on our players, staff, and the wider club community,” says Terry McFlynn, director of football at Auckland FC.
“It’s been a pleasure having him as part of the team, and while we’re sad to see him go, we’re equally excited for this new and exciting footballing adventure overseas.”
Shelley’s last day at the club will be November 28.
