Fans Welcomed on Field for Last Game of Season

If you ever wanted to walk on the pitch at Go Media Stadium, now is your chance.

When the full-time whistle blows at the end of the game against Central Coast Mariners on Sunday, all AFC fans will be invited to enter the field of play.

This special one-off occasion will allow fans to join the players in celebrating the end of another fantastic regular season.

Nick Becker, Auckland FC CEO, said the club made the decision to thank fans for their support and create a bit of excitement for what’s to come.

“This is just a little sign of our appreciation for our fans and for Auckland. We’ve had 13 games at Go Media Stadium, and for various reasons, all of them have been memorable. Whether we’re talking about wins, losses, torrential rain, glorious sunshine or fabulous goals, our fans have been there through it all.

“It gives everyone a chance to celebrate together and creates a bit of excitement for what’s to come. We have at least two more games and the potential for a second piece of silverware in just our second season. I want everyone to get up for it and be excited.

“This your city, your moment and your chance to celebrate.”

How it will work:

  • When the full-time whistle blows, the stadium will be set up to invite our fans onto the field
  • Listen out for the call of the matchday announcer and make your way to the nearest opening, via the corner of the field
  • Enjoy your time on the field, take pictures with friends and family and celebrate another incredible season together

Some rules to follow:

  • Please listen out for the call before entering the field – we want to make sure it’s ready for you
  • Listen to and respect the security team, staff and match officials at the stadium
  • Don’t mob the players or aim any rude, threatening or abusive language to any players, staff or officials
  • Stay clear of the broadcast area near the tunnel, this will be cordoned off
  • Look after and respect the field! Hopefully this Sunday won’t be the last time we play here this season, so do your best to look after this hallowed turf
  • Be kind and respectful to each other, avoid pushing, shoving or any aggressive language or behaviour
  • Once the allocated time is over, please leave the field and follow directions of venue and security staff

And finally, if the weather isn’t on our side this week and field conditions don’t allow, we may have to postpone this one for a future game.
