Gracias Moreno!

Columbian striker, Neyder Moreno has departed Auckland FC.

After an incredibly successful season, scoring eight goals and registering three assists across 24 matches, Moreno will depart the club to seek new opportunities overseas.

Moreno, 28, was a much-loved figure around the club, known for his desire to succeed, his impact off the bench and his brace against the Wellington Phoenix in the famous 6-1 demolition derby.

He was a late addition to the team, arriving just a week before the season started on a one-year deal. He leaves by mutual consent with the best wishes and many thanks of everyone at Auckland FC.

“With a lump in my throat, but with much gratitude, I say goodbye to the team that has been like a second family to me,” said Moreno.

“I carry with me great memories, sincere friendships and a deep respect for everyone at Auckland FC. I will always wear the team colours in my heart.”

Head coach Steve Corica said Moreno would forever be remembered as an integral part of the team that helped Auckland FC win the Premier’s Plate in its debut season.

“He is a fantastic player, a great trainer and I know how much he appreciated the love of the fans,” says Corica.

“He is part of a team that made history and will be remembered with fondness. We wish him and his family all the best for the future.”
