We’ve Won the Premiership! What’s Next for Auckland FC?

The Premiership is awarded to the team that finishes at the top of the A-League Men ladder at the end of the regular season.

On Saturday, April 26th, after Melbourne City and Adelaide United drew 0 – 0, Auckland FC were officially crowned Premiers, with two games still left to play, as no other team could mathematically get more points.

With the Premier’s Plate already secured, Auckland FC made history, taking to the field on Sunday, April 27th, as the first New Zealand team to ever win A-League silverware. The celebrations truly began after Auckland FC beat Perth Glory 1-0.

But the job isn’t done yet.

What’s Next?

The attention now turns to the A-League Men Finals Series – the playoff tournament that decides the ultimate champion of the league. The top six teams from the regular season qualify for the Finals Series.

Elimination Finals

  • 1st place (Auckland FC) and 2nd place (Melbourne City) earn a week off.
  • 3rd place (Western United) faces 6th place (Adelaide United) on Friday, 09th May 7:35pm AEST/9:35pm NZT.
  • 4th place (Western Sydney Wanderers) faces 5th place (Melbourne Victory) on Saturday, 10th May 7:35pm AEST/9:35pm NZT.

These Elimination Finals are knockout matches. If the game is tied after 90 minutes, extra time is played, and if needed, a penalty shootout will decide the winner.

The two victorious teams progress to the Semi-Finals.

Semi-Finals

  • 1st place (Auckland FC) plays the lowest-ranked Elimination Final winner.
  • 2nd place plays the highest-ranked Elimination Final winner.

The Semi-Finals have two legs (home and away), with the team that scores the most goals across both matches (aggregate score) moving on to the Grand Final.

As Premiers, Auckland FC have elected to play the away leg first on Saturday, May 17, and the home leg second at Go Media Stadium on Saturday, May 24 6pm.

Tickets for the home leg (second leg) of the semi-final go on sale to current Auckland FC Members on Monday, 05th May at 12pm NZT/10am AEST via ticketmaster.co.nz. All Auckland FC members will receive same seat allocation via email and AFC Account Manager, where they can purchase their current reserved or non-reserved seats at 10% off.

Away club Members can purchase tickets next at 12pm NZT/10am AEST next Monday, 12 May, once the opponent is confirmed, before the General Public at 3pm NZT/1pm AEST on Tuesday, 13 May.

You can choose to purchase the away leg of the semi-final as well. If you aren’t travelling though, Auckland FC will be hosting an away semi-final screening in Takutai Square, in Britomart.

More details on ticketing and our semi-final watch party will be announced shortly via email.

Grand Final

The winners of the semi-finals will face off in the A-League Men Grand Final, where the ultimate champion is decided.

Importantly, the higher-ranked team from the regular season earns the right to host the Grand Final, giving Auckland FC a strong advantage should they progress.

Tickets for this match will work in a similar way, with members receiving priority access.

Every match of the Isuzu UTE A-League 2025 Finals Series is available live on Sky Sport and streamed on Sky Sport Now.

History has already been made – but even bigger glory is still within reach. Let’s finish the job, Auckland!
