Woud, Brimmer & May Injury Update

Auckland FC goalkeeper Michael Woud is expected to miss up to three weeks of A-League action with a groin strain.

Michael injured his adductor during the warm-up for his side’s away match against Adelaide on Friday.

Summer signing Jimmy Hilton stepped in to wear the gloves for the 1–1 draw and is likely to feature in at least the next two games, starting with Saturday’s visit from Melbourne Victory at Go Media Stadium.

Jake Brimmer is awaiting a scan to his left calf following an injury picked up in training. The results of the scan will determine his likely return date.

A confirmed absence for Saturday’s game is Uruguayan striker Guillermo May. Guillermo will be unavailable as part of the mandatory eight-day stand-down period following a head knock. Player welfare is of extremely high priority to the club with Guillermo under observation, recovering well and progressing through a Concussion Protocol.

The club would also like to emphasise that it strictly followed all available guidance when making the decision to allow the player to continue after the knock he received on Friday night. Guillermo passed his on-field concussion assessment and received approval to play from two doctors present as part of the APL-mandated medical team.
