Auckland FC today confirmed the departures of goalkeeper Jimmy Hilton and midfielders Adama Coulibaly and Finn McKenlay.
Hilton, 23, joined the Black Knights in February to solve the goalkeeping gaps, making two first-team appearances against Adelaide United and Melbourne Victory in April. Though his time at the club was brief, James departs with the full support of everyone at Auckland FC as he seeks his next opportunity.
Coulibaly, 21, and McKenlay, 20, hold a special place in the club’s short history, having been among the first scholarship players signed when Auckland FC was established in 2024, both recruited from local Auckland clubs as part of the club’s commitment to developing homegrown talent.
In two years with the Black Knights, Coulibaly made 30 appearances and McKenlay 29 across the National League, OFC Pro League and A-League, all while the club made history with an A-League Premiership, A-League Championship and OFC Pro League title.
Their performances didn’t go unnoticed internationally either, with both earning New Zealand U20 call-ups; McKenlay picking up 7 caps and Coulibaly 5.
“Jimmy, Adama and Finn have all contributed to what has been a remarkable chapter in this club’s history.” Auckland FC Director of Football, Terry McFlynn.
“Adama and Finn were here from day one; they helped build the culture of this football club, and we’re proud of the role they played. We wish all three of them the very best in the next stages of their careers.”
Auckland FC thanks Jimmy, Adama and Finn for their dedication and wishes them every success going forward.
