Jake Girdwood-Reich has departed Auckland FC following the expiration of his season-long loan with the club.
Girdwood Reich joined at the beginning of the 25/26 campaign from MLS side St Louis City and now departs Auckland FC as an A-League champion, playing an integral part in our championship success.
“As an Aussie lad, it’s been a dream of mine to win the A-League, and to do it with such a special group of guys has been such a great experience for me,” said Girdwood-Reich
“I want to thank everyone at the club for supporting me on my journey and for making my short time in Auckland so special.”
Girdwood-Reich appeared 29 times for the Black Knights this past season, being a standout performer across the backline as well as scoring a few of the club’s more memorable goals in 25/26.
The clearance turned goal in Wellington, as well as the tone-setting header in the semi-final away at Coopers, are just some of the moments that will keep him long in the memory of Auckland FC fans.
Auckland FC Director of Football, Terry McFlynn, wishes Girdwood-Reich well with what’s next in his career.
“Jake is a top player who has a top attitude; he’s a true professional, and I’m sure he’ll have a long and successful career in football.”
Everyone at the club wishes Jake well and is grateful for his contributions to the club’s championship success.
